Marvin H. Sargent, 75, of Janesville passed away  December 18, 2012 at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. Marv was born in Madison, WI on September 2, 1937, the son of Albert G. and Florella (Pien) Sargent. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed as a postal clerk by the Madison Post Office for 28 years prior to retiring May 6, 1990. He had been a Janesville resident since shortly after retiring. Marv was an avid sports fan who loved football, baseball and basketball, especially the Packers, Badgers and Chicago White Sox. He enjoyed playing bingo at the Janesville Senior Center and an occasional trip to the casinos. He looked forward to spending time at the family cabin by Stone Lake, Wisconsin in the summertime.
He is survived by: brother, Ron (Pat) Sargent of Mt. Horeb and their children, Bart (Sandy) Sargent of Blanchardville  and Brett Sargent of Blue Mounds; great niece, Stefanie (Mike) Keim of Massillon, Ohio and their children, Madison and Shane; great nephews Mathew Sargent of Blanchardville and Ross (Katlin) Sargent of Barneveld; great nieces Brenna and Mandy Sargent of New Glarus; his brother, Wayne (Diane) Sargent of Janesville and their children, Denise Falk of Janesville and her sons, Brendan and Jordan; and D’ette Wagner of Madison and her daughter, Jessica (Onu) Ikegboma and their sons Zachary and Nathan of St. Paul, MN and her son, Kevin Miller of White Bear lake, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Sargent of Madison; cousins, Jean Younger, Madison and Jim (Caryl) Basset of Montello. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A special thank you to St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital staff and physicians for the excellent care they gave to Marvin during his stay there.
Services will be at noon Friday, December 28, 2012 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville with Chaplain John Froiland officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona, WI. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Wright Home, 637 North Wright Road, Janesville, WI 53546
